1. Endorsing compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding the protection of natural resources and customer safety.

2. Providing environmental education and awareness which encourage behaviors that contribute to the sustainability of Florida's natural ecosystems and resources.

3. Promoting professionalism and integrity within the ecotourism industry by providing and maintaining a certification/recognition program for ecotour providers.
Florida SEE is recognized as the leading authority on authentic ecotourism in Florida!

Our Story
The origin of the Florida Society for Ethical Ecotourism began after a local ecotourism workshop held in Fort Myers in 1998. At that conference, several participants suggested that a post-workshop group be formed to champion the existence of authentic ecotourism in Southwest Florida. It was immediately agreed upon by that founding group that our primary existence would be "to establish and maintain a professional code of ecotourism ethics to encourage an awareness and stewardship of Florida's natural heritage."

In the years preceeding its inception, Florida SEE accomplished its goal and the group members completed the second revision of the Certification/Recognition Program. The organization is currently growing state-wide as a voluntary, member-driven entity. We welcome your interest and support of expanding our regional boundaries to embrace all of Florida's ecotour providers and their supporters. Florida SEE members are the foundation for the growth of our organization and represent a unified and ethical voice for Florida's natural heritage.
